To combat the growing challenge of removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from residents’ medicine cabinets, the Plano Police Department on Saturday will participate in the second National Drug Take Back initiative.
Almost 6,000 state and local law enforcement agencies will partner for the Drug Enforcement Agency’s second event — about twice as many as September 2010, when Plano police collected 310 pounds of expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications in one four-hour period at five sites across the city.
